Delivery FAQ
We can make DCPs out of almost any kind of media, but we recommend the following delivery specs for optimum image quality:
Video delivery in ProRes 422 or 4444 HQ, 24fps* (23.98), Stereo or 5.1** (surround) audio burned in.
When exporting please make sure that you have NOT ENABLED the “OPTIMIZE STILLS” CHECKBOX. This will lead to frame loss.
**A note on 5.1 Surround audio: If the 5.1 is burned in to the video file the tracks must be in the following order 1:L, 2:R, 3:C, 4:LFE, 5:LS, 6:RS. If you cannot confirm this track order, you must deliver audio separately as six (6) mono tracks with the locations clearly labeled in the file name, synched to the video file. The audio and video files must start on exactly the same frame.
*If you have 30 or 25 FPS it adds a 10%-20% risk that the film will not play in all projectors, but this is becoming less and less of an issue.
We prefer the film to have no leader or 2-pop. If there is a long leader or 2-pop, let us know how much needs to be trimmed at the front. With DCPs, what you see is what you get, so you want the start of your delivery media to be the first thing people will see in the theater.
